Smells like ripe blackberries and blackcurrant. On the tongue you taste the sweetness of these berries, balanced with a surprisingly high level of acidity. Later on liquorice, vanilla, tobacco and polished leather introduce themselves. You definitely feel the grip of these tannins.
Colour is deep ruby red, with violet tones.
You should pair this wine with high protein food, such as beef or pork. The acidity in the wine works excellently with cotoletta alla milanese for example.
100% Montepulciano, the grapes are harvested just a few days later than usual, resaulting in slightly higher sugar concentration, giving nicely structured wines, with moderately high alcohol.
